17 miles on a dreadmill

Okay, so I am in my 11th week of training for marathon #2 in April and completed my 17 miles successfully yesterday. I had no mechanical issues. I have my bad knee now under control with orthotics that even out my leg length and my hips are good. My only issue was running all 17 miles on the treadmill. The weather here in the Northwest is rainy and windy and yucky and I am kinda tired of having a chapped face so, can I just complain again that I ran all 17 miles of it in a treadmill? The run would have been oh so painful had it not been for my lovely sister-in-law Lou. She hung out with me for the entire run!!

I do have to admit Lou really did not have much of a choice as she was incapacitated for the majority of the day…it was all part of my master plan to have company while running indoors. First I decided to invite her along to see a comedy show. Then I would watch her load up on sapphire and tonics while I innocently sipped a beer (I did have to run the next day I would explain). I would drag her back to my house where she would sleep off said gin and tonics only to discover the oh so yummy drinks would leave a lingering headache and upset tummy leaving Lou unable to leave my house for the entire day! So you see Lou was forced to hang out and yell at celebrities on E! and discover new places on the travel channel for my whole dreaded three-hour treadmill run. Amazingly it worked! I am so smrt s-m-r-t!!

Unemployment leads to blogging

So I have been a "closet" blog reader since beginning to train for my first marathon last year and have been inspired and motivated by many of the blogs I now read on a regular basis....But never thought about writing one of my own being all busy with gainful employment, children and...Stuff. So, now all that has changed. I have been laid off from my job (I think because President Bush and Tom Cruise are in cahoots) due to loss of funding for mental health in my state and have an abundant amount of time on my hands now to write about my own running escapades! So I thought I would steal an idea from other bloggers and start this with 100 things about me...

1. I like to run
2. I ran my first marathon in November
3. It was great!
4. I am training for my next marathon which is in April
5. I am very happily married
6. I am a 'single wife'
7. This is because my husband works for the same government that cuts funding for social services leaving me unemployed and continually deploying him to far away countries for months at a time, all the time
8. I have strong feelings of resentment towards our current president/congress/government
9. I am still proud of my husband and what he does
10. My sister-in-law, Lou, challenged me to write my own blog
11. She does not want me to talk about her, just our in-laws
12. If any ever reads this they will know Lou as intimately as I do
13. I don't shave my legs when my husband is deployed in the winter time
14. Neither does Lou. Her husband is in the Navy as well
15. Lou wants it to be known that our husbands only leave for a few months at a time so we are not big hairy beasts.
16. I have nothing against those women who never shave their legs, its just not for me.

21. My daughter scares me. She will soon be a teenager.
22. I want to protect her from the world and I know I can't, I guess that's what really scares me.
23. My son is still my baby. That will never change.
24. I also have two dogs, Abby and Rory.
25. Rory is a yellow lab puppy and I am allergic to her.

52. I agree then do what I want anyway.
53. I am not such a "good little officers wife."

67. He looks good in a flight suit.
68. When he was in flight school I wanted him to knock on the door and ask if he could park his F-18 in the front yard.
69. I still like to play that game, only he does not fly F-18's.
70. Yes, he has been gone for a while now *sigh*.
71. He has no idea that I am doing this.
72. I don't think he will like it.
73. I am just going to send a link to this blog to him and wait for a reaction.
74. I secretly enjoy annoying him and imagine he will say something along the line of 'Oh Tilly.'
75. I don't think he thinks I need to share my neurosis with the world.

94. Fortunately I don't run to loose weight.
95. I love my "ghetto lattes" before I run.
96. They are ghetto because they are not real lattes from my cheap latte making machine.
97. Fab bought me a good machine and I took it back.
